“Searching for Spring”

It is officially the first day of Spring!

We got a jump start on it over this past weekend. A couple of us from the NIHCA office got outside Saturday morning and kicked off the winter blues with a brisk pre-St. Patrick’s day run with 120 other crazy folks dressed in green.

Why wait until Spring to kick the dust off our sneakers? When we weren’t being blown away by the winter winds or covered in the blizzard snows; we were meeting up over the weekends this winter to get a few practice runs under our belts. When it was warm enough, we had some of our children join us for a run making the miles seem shorter.

Saturday was such a great day for a run. The Marshall YMCA hosted the event and they had over 30 volunteers who helped point the runners in the right direction to the finish line. Every time we saw another volunteer we would let out a small, but extra loud cheer and “thank you” to them for helping out. The volunteers and cheerleaders are out there braving the cold and standing in one spot as we are laughing and keeping warm with our efforts of moving forward. The Shamrock Shuffle 5k was a great event!
It was a good time had by all and it was quite the awesome feeling crossing the finish line together!

There are more 5k’s in the future for the NIHCA office ~ stay tuned!
